Jeremy Camp - When I Close My Eyes

As I sit and wonder how I could have made your life a little longer, I realize how selfish I am.
I know your in a better place. I know at last your little body is young and healthy. It was just
so hard to let you go.
I thank you for holding on for us. I thank God that I was able to release you into his loving care.

When I close my eyes I still see you. I see you running and playing in the fields of the Lord.
I see you eating as much as you please with ease. I see you with all the other pets that have
gone on before.

People don't understand the happiness a pet brings. They don't understand the joy we feel
when we come home from a hard day and our little one makes it all seem better, even if for
a little while. They don't understand the pain we feel when you go on to a better place.
When I close my eyes I still see you. I see you running and playing in the fields of the Lord.
I see you eating as much as you please with ease. I see you with all the other pets that have
gone on before.

When my time has come, and I walk into the gates of heaven, I will see all my loved ones and
friends again. While I greet each one i'll be looking for you. As I walk and look around I finally see
you. Sitting in the lap of Jesus. You run to me. I will pick you up and give you kisses, and know
that we will never have to part again. All the pain of missing you will be erased.
